About
Arknights is a mobile tower defense (TD) game developed by Hypergryph. Originally released in mainland China (CN) on May 1, 2019, it later received a release in Japan, Korea, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia (collectively known as Global) by Yostar on January 16, 2020, and in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau (TW) by Longcheng on June 29, 2020.
While at first it appears to be a deceptively simple TD, Arknights tends to be more difficult than the run-of-the-mill TD game due to tricky maps, enemy design, and challenging combat puzzles. One strong aspect of the game is the player's management of Operators and the correct use of their abilities to achieve victory. Arknights also features an important base building feature.
Arknights utilizes a gacha system for players to obtain Operators, however, the game designs stages to be solvable using Operators of the most common rarities. In addition, the Recruitment system permits the free, albeit rare, acquisition of most of the older high rarity Operators.
Due to the differing release dates of each version as well as other factors, the Global server of Arknights is ~6 months behind the CN server, while the TW server is ~8 months behind CN (~3 months behind Global).

The Babel event will be live in October 10, so prepare yourselves to witness the rise and fall of Babel long in the past with the story itself having significant implications to the overall Arknights storyline and reveal truths behind Amiya and Theresa! You also get the chance to pull for Ascalon in the first two weeks of the Babel event, so don't miss it out if you want to have her!
With that said, Global will finally get Episode 14 in around early November, sometime after the Babel event, so be sure to keep yourselves fresh to tackle the new content (both physically and mentally, as the story itself will take a more dramatic turn too) as well as pulling for the game-changing Logos and Wiš'adel!
- ...that A Flurry to the Flame is the only event so far which is released on the matching season of autumn (on the Northern Hemisphere) in Global?
- ...that before Il Siracusano, both an Alternate Operator and the original one cannot be present in a squad or the RIIC simultaneously?
- ...that welfare Operators always have three DP cost reductions as part of their Potential improvements, with certain exceptions?
- ...that Tachanka's Lord outfit is actually based on an existing cosmetic combination in Rainbow Six Siege?
- ...that VI-7 features no less than five bosses in one sitting, a record that not even Trials for Navigator would match?
- ...that nobody ever cleared Sal Viento Karst with the highest possible Contingency Level of 39 until it was released in the TW server?
- ...that alchemaniac somehow pulled Skadi most of the time on her headhunting pulls?
- ...that The Rides to Lake Silberneherze is the first time where the trailer has the featured Operators speak in the respective server's native languages?
Featured Operator
Ascalon is a 6★ Ambusher Specialist introduced with the Babel event; before this, she was mentioned in various Operators' files and events before appearing as a supporting character in Episode 10.
The leader of Rhodes Island's S.W.E.E.P., and a veteran of the Kazdel civil war who was previously part of the Military Commission of Kazdel before defecting to Babel and went on to become one of R.I.'s original members, Ascalon is a solid Ambusher specializing in hindering her enemies' movement to a near-halt while dishing out high damage towards them. Her skills complement that capability by boosting her crowd-control and damage dealing abilities, with her third skill uniquely allowing her to draw enemy fire and recover some HP upon dodging an attack (or having the attack missed due to reduced enemy accuracy it also applies), allowing Ascalon to be counted on situations where heavy enemy fire and the need to stall enemy advance is expected.
Ascalon's Japanese CV is Miki Nagasawa who is best known for voicing Miyu in Vampire Princess Miyu and Karin Koenig in Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant, while her English CV is Ali Hillis who is best known for voicing Liara T'Soni in the Mass Effect series and Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII.
